Acupuncture on the go!

What is Ear Seeding?

Ear Seeding is an ancient practice, which forms part of Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM).

It’s a bit like acupuncture on the go, with either small seeds from the vaccaria herb or metal pellets placed on acupuncture points on the ear and held in place with a small plaster. These stay in place for 4-7 days, during which time you massage them 2-3 times a day to stimulate the acupuncture points before removing and discarding.

What are the benefits?

Believe it or not, there are over 10,000 nerve connections in your ears, compared to 7,500 in your feet. They’re also one of the easiest points from which to stimulate your vagus nerves – the main nerves of your parasympathetic system; the system that helps you to ‘rest and digest’.

As with all the therapies I practise I don’t diagnose, treat, or claim to cure any medical conditions. What I can say is Ear Seeding can help encourage relaxation, revitalisation, and a general sense of feeling more positive. They’ve also used by my clients as additional support beyond the treatment room for the solutions they’re seeking to their specific health and wellbeing problems.

How it works

In truth no one fully understands how acupuncture works, but in traditional Chinese medicine the belief is that when acupuncture points are stimulated by touch, a needle, or seeds they can help to balance your body’s flow of energy: and a balanced flow of energy, Qi, means positive health and wellbeing.

What happens in a session?

Your first appointment will always involve an initial consultation and assessment. After this you’ll receive some ear reflexology where I’ll work on key acupuncture points throughout the body via the ears to support the ear seeding. I’ll then pop your seeds into place. These stay in place for 4-7 days, during which time you massage them 2-3 times a day to stimulate the acupuncture points before removing and discarding. At the end of each session, we’ll discuss any additional support you might require, including after care guidance to help you make the most of your treatment.

At subsequent sessions you can choose to just have the ear seeds replaced, or to combine the ear seeding with any therapy I offer either as a 15 minute add on, or as part of your appointment.

Works well with...

Ear Seeding is a great stand alone treatment, but it also works well with Reflexology and Holistic Facials. Just add the treatment onto your appointment, or combine into a 60 minute treatment.

Price and session length

  • First appointment, £45, 30 minutes
  • Subsequent, seeding only £15, 10-15 minutes
  • Subsequent, ear reflexology and seeding £45, 30 minutes

FAQS

Do the plasters contain latex?

No, I've sourced latex free ear seeds for both the vaccaria seeds and gold magnet pellets.

I've had ear seeds before. Do I need to book a First Appointment?

Yes. The session time gives me enough time for a full consultation and treatment.

What should I expect after the treatment?

Everyone's experience differs, but I will provide you with clear aftercare for your ear seeds - and you can download a copy here.
